Bio
Holly McMillen has 10 years of experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Missouri. She received her master's degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling from University of Nebraska at Omaha and her bachelor's degree in psychology from Northwest Missouri State University. Holly specializes in first responders and their families, healthcare workers, and young adults with a variety of disorders including anxiety disorders, mood disorders, post traumatic stress disorder, personality disorders, and psychosis. Holly focuses on a holistic approach to treatment including – emotional, cognitive, behavioral, physiological, and spiritual dynamics. She is certified in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy), CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), Solution Focused Therapy, DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy), and Exposure Therapy. Holly is passionate about helping first responders cope with and overcome the trauma and stress that comes with the job. Holly has experience serving as a CBHL (community behavioral health liaison) in Northwest Missouri, where she co-responded with police officers on behavioral health crisis calls. During her time in that position, she also participated in numerous critical incident debriefings and has volunteered and will continue to volunteer at PCIS (post critical incident seminar). Holly's passion for this population is derived from her marriage to a first responder and the several first responders within her family.
