Bio
I graduated from Columbia College with my Bachelor's in Psychology/Sociology. I then went on to Mizzou and graduated with my MSW in social work and am now a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been working in the mental health field for the past 8 years. Prior to that, I was a volunteer EMT for 15 years. I know the types of things that you have seen and dealt with. I also understand how reaching out for help when you are the one others typically rely on is difficult. To say that working with individuals like yourself is my passion almost does not seem like a strong enough statement. I work with individuals who struggle with trauma, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, substance use, and more. I am EMDR certified. I also utilize a person-centered, solution-focused approach. In therapy, you will gain the tools you need to deal with difficult situations now as well as in the future. Working in this field we know there will continue to be those days. You will learn skills to help you navigate past distressing situations. That will be an asset to you when you do encounter those rough days. You will recognize when and how to use a variety of techniques to help you navigate past those rough days. You will learn to recognize the support that you already have in your life. We will take these skills and supports that you already have and add new ones that will allow you to become the best you that you can be. You will learn many skills that will help you to feel better. I am betting you will be able to teach others some of these tips and tricks in a work setting when you recognize someone that is struggling. My goal is for you to feel good about yourself and the amazing work that you are doing! People depend on you and I want you to know you can depend on me.
I have recently become nationally certified as an Emergency Responder and Public Safety Certified Clinician. I engaged in extra classes geared toward individuals who are emergency responders as well as those in public safety.
While my day job has me working in Kirksville, I also have a private practice that allows me to see people across the state. What this means for you is that I can see anyone in the state either through my private practice or my day job. With both you can be seen in person or via telehealth.
My private practice is in Sullivan County Missouri. I have evening hours as well as some weekend slots to help accommodate any needs that you may have. You may reach me through my private practice Fostering Positive Mental Health by calling 660-654-8779 or emailing [email protected].
